Mission Statement
The mission of the Universal Center
for Development is to provide a comprehensive program that integrates
academic and vocational training for young adults and adults with
disabilities, the socially and economically disadvantaged and HOMECOMERS.
Our goal is to assist these individuals in acquiring marketable
skills necessary for survival in a technological society.
The Need
Recent studies about the availability of resources for
those with special needs indicate that additional mechanisms are
needed to offer specialized training for these individuals. We
feel that the benefits of opening a center of this type will create
a positive impact on the citizens in the Washington Metropolitan
area by providing a vehicle for those who are often forgotten to
prosper and contribute to our ever-changing society. UCD will offer
